Incumbent Maxine Beecher and newcomer Susan Henderson have been elected to the two at-large seats on the South Portland City Council, receiving the largest number of votes in the seven-way race.
Beecher received 5,200 votes and Henderson received 4,439, according to City Clerk Emily Scully. Voters in the city also returned Republican state Rep. Kevin Battle to the Maine House and also supported Democratic state Sen. Rebecca Millett, who appears to have won over challenger Martha “Molly” MacAuslan, an independent.
