ALBANY, N.H. – Fire officials say a large brush fire in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest has spread to more than 325 acres.

The blaze was first reported as a five-acre fire around 4 p.m. Saturday. Authorities said Monday no structures have been lost and none are currently threatened.

Firefighters believe the fire started near the Albany Covered Bridge and the Kancamagus Highway. Flames could be seen from miles away. Authorities say the area has not seen fire for more than a century.

Crews from New Hampshire and Maine are working to secure a line around the fire.

Fire officials say containing the fire by mid-week “looks optimistic.”
