Kelly Wentworth’s last day as director of finance and human resources is Monday, Nov. 21, and budget time is fastly approaching for Regional School Unit 5.

Superintendent Becky Foley and the school board isn’t waiting around to replace Wentworth, a Pownal resident who left RSU 5 to take a job with the Brunswick School Department. Applications closed last Thursday, and Foley has scheduled a first round of interviews for this week.

“We don’t want to be without a finance director,” Foley said last week.

Foley will conduct second interviews candidates the week following Thanksgiving, and hopes to have a recommendation for the school board in early December.

Foley said that she will begin to study a pro forma budget for 2017-2018 in December, and she hopes to present that to the school board in January. The board will study Foley’s budget recommendation throughout the winter, and is scheduled to adopt a budget on March 22. The annual budget meeting is scheduled for May 24, and the budget referendum is in June.
