The South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club has extended its commitment to the Maine Department of Veteran Affairs and for the 2016-2017 Rotary Year the club has pledged itself to assist with some of the VA’s unmet needs.

Recent donations from the local Rotary Club include 400 transportation passes, Wal-Mart gift cards and toiletries, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and deodorant. Thus far the club has given out the equivalent of more than $6,300 to help vets meet their basic needs.

“Sadly, too many of the patriotic men and women of Maine who served our country suffer homelessness and have numerous needs. We want to help and are doing so in cooperation with the Department of Veteran Affairs, said Bill Anderson, president of the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club

Assistance from non-Rotarians is always welcome and can be coordinated with Dan Davidson, at 767-4682, or through Susan Whittington, at 623-8411, ext. 4344, or Susan.Whittington@va.gov.
