A Brewer man pleaded guilty Friday to possessing child pornography.

Authorities said Ronald Boersma, 38, downloaded files of child pornography on his home computer. Detectives with the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the U.S. Secret Service said Boersma admitted to them that he downloaded the sexually explicit images after they got a warrant and searched his computer.

Boersma entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor.

He faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine and will be sentenced after a report is filed by the federal probation office.
