LYMAN — George M. Bishop Sr., 89, of Lyman, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at home.

He was born in Old Town on Sept. 6, 1927, a son of George and Josephine (LeBreton) Bishop. He was educated from Biddeford schools and served his country in the U.S. Navy.

George was employed as a fixer for Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford for 31 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a volunteer for the Saco Fire Department for many years.

His hobbies included lobstering, fishing and hunting.

Mr. Bishop was a parishioner of St. Philip’s Church in Lyman.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Leblanc, and by three sisters, Theresa Janelle, Doris Sanborn and Rita Lamarre.

He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Juliette (Therrien) Bishop of Lyman; and his five children, George (Marc) Bishop Jr., William R. Bishop, Katherine M. Pelletier, Christine A. Jackson and John J. Bishop and his wife Denise. He is also survived by: one brother, Roger Fournell; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, time to be announced.
