SANFORD— SIS Bank is happy to announce its donation of $500 each to Operation Ray of Light and the Cancer Community Center as part of the bank’s Employee Donation Program.

Each month since April, SIS President and CEO Mark T. Mickeriz has been randomly selecting an employee who is then given the opportunity to pick a local non-profit organization that is meaningful to them to receive the $500 gift.

For October, Mickeriz chose Buxton Assistant Branch Manager Annie Duprey as the employee who received the chance to designate her favorite nonprofit as the beneficiary, choosing Operation Ray of Light.

Operation Ray of Light was founded to enhance the lives of veterans and their families.

A hub for community connection based out of Sanford, Operation Ray of Light provides comprehensive emotional support, resource development and support groups, as well as PTSD education and veteran suicide prevention support.

“We’re proud to support such a commendable local organization as Operation Ray of Light,” Mickeriz said. “SIS is always looking for ways we can help benefit our community and its members, and we’re glad to do that through a comprehensive and empowering nonprofit like this one.”

The eighth area charity to benefit from SIS’s Employee Donation Program this year is the Cancer Community Center, chosen by Main Office Collections Clerk Miranda Wyatt for the month of November.

The Cancer Community Center, located in Portland, serves adults living with cancer, as well as their loved ones, with a variety of programs and support groups.

All of these offerings able to be provided at no charge, thanks in large part to the generosity of community members who donate time, money and skills in order to make it thrive.

“The Cancer Community Center is a fantastic resource for families like Miranda’s who have been affected by the debilitating disease,” Mickeriz said. “We are thrilled to support this worthy cause that has the potential to help so many people.”
