
The parade steps off at 2 p.m. from the Wells Plaza and proceeds north on Route 1 to the Wells Junior High School. The theme is “Christmas Fun for Everyone.”
The Grand Marshal this year is Diana Abbott, a well-known figure in Wells and the surrounding towns.
Abbott was an elementary school teacher in Wells from 1962 to 1988. Throughout her career she was actively involved in boards and committees including the York County Child Abuse and Neglect Council, the Senior Center at Lower Village, the Historical Society of Wells & Ogunquit, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Wells & Ogunquit Outreach Committee.
She is currently a volunteer Storyteller at the Wells Public Library, Ogunquit Memorial Library and the Elementary Schools in Wells, Kennebunkport and Kennebunk.
York Hospital in Wells will be serving hot cocoa and cookies in front of the Junior High School gymnasium at the conclusion of the parade.
Families, youth groups, civic groups, businesses and individuals are cordially invited to join the parade and there is no charge to participate.
