SANFORD—Dennis W. Morrison, 70, of Sanford, passed away peacefully with his loving family surrounding him at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016.

Dennis was born in Cooperstown, New York. on Aug. 25, 1946. He worked for more than 25 years as a truck driver for various companies in New England, including H.A. Mapes, Tilcon and Bruce Littlefield & Sons. Dennis loved nature and got a lot of enjoyment watching the birds come to the various feeders that he had hung around his home. He will be remembered as a kind and loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Kathleen Libbey Morrison, who passed away in August 2015, and his parents, Dorothea Parker, and Donald Morrison Sr.

Surviving are: two daughters, Robin Smiley and her husband, David, of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, and Kerri Hutson and her partner, Christopher Nemec, of Kyle, Texas; a grandson, Cameron Berry, and a granddaughter, Emily Smiley; his brothers David and Chris Morrison, Donald Morrison Jr., James Morrison and his wife, Clair; his sister, Donna Hupe; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Mary Libbey.

Dennis and his wife, Kathy, were huge animal lovers and were known to have never turned a stray away that was in need of food or shelter. The family is asking that those planning an expression of sympathy consider sending a memorial contribution to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, Maine 04094.

At Dennis’s wishes there will be no services.
