GORHAM — Paced by double winners Heather Kendall and Adela Kalilwa, the University of Southern Maine women’s indoor track and field team racked up 14 first-place finishes and a total of 28 top-three results at the season-opening USM Open I held Saturday afternoon at the Costello Sports Complex field house.

The meet was a non-scoring event.

Senior and former Mt. Ararat High School standout Liz O’Neal took the 600 meters (1:43.77), senior Jasmine Boyle of Brunswick captured the 3,000 meters (10:55.52) and sophomore Kelly Lynch, a Mt. Ararat graduate, finished second in the mile (5:41.69).

Southern Maine is off for semester exams and the holidays, and returns to competition on Jan. 7, hosting the USM Open II.
