STANDISH — Marcus Delpeche scored 15 points as the Bates men’s basketball team beat St. Joseph’s 68-58 on Sunday.

Malcolm Delpeche and Quin Leary each added 11 points for the Bobcats (6-3), who led by as many as 20 points in the second half on their way to the win.

Quinn Richardson-Newton finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for St. Joseph’s (4-5). Darian Berry added 11.

(8) GONZAGA 86, TENNESSEE 76: Nigel Williams-Goss scored 20 points, and the Bulldogs (11-0) remained undefeated by holding off the Volunteers (6-5) in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gonzaga hadn’t played since Dec. 10 and looked strong as the Bulldogs scored the first eight points and never trailed. They led 27-6 on a jumper by Zach Collins with 12:06 left, 43-29 at halftime and 64-48 midway through the second half.

Tennessee went on a 10-3 run and got to 75-71 on a jumper by Robert Hubbs III with 2:26 left.

(4) BAYLOR 107, JOHN BROWN 53: Johnathan Motley had 20 points and nine rebounds in the Bears (11-0) victory over the Eagles (9-5) an overmatched NAIA school, in Waco, Texas.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

PLATTSBURGH STATE 70, SOUTHERN MAINE 54: Moe Jones scored 21 points to lead the Cardinals (5-4) to a win over the the Huskies (2-8) as part of the 2016 Cruizin’ Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Sarah Bonner chipped in with 10 points for Plattsburgh State, while Frannie Merkel grabbed 11 rebounds.

Miranda Nicely led the Huskies with 12 points.

(2) NOTRE DAME 85, TOLEDO 68: Brianna Turner had 16 of her 26 points in the first half to lead the Irish (10-1) to a victory over the Rockets (8-2) in Toledo, Ohio.

Turner shot 11 for 13 from the field and also had eight rebounds.

(5) MISSISSIPPI 76, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 72: Victoria Vivians scored 19 points and Morgan William had 18 to lead the Bulldogs (12-0) to a victory over the Trojans (8-2) in the championship game of the Women of Troy Classic in Los Angeles.

(6) SOUTH CAROLINA 66, (9) UCLA 57: Alaina Coates had 20 points and 14 rebounds and the Gamecocks (9-1) took control in the second half to beat the Bruins (8-2) in Columbia, South Carolina.

(8) LOUISVILLE 89, EVANSVILLE 47: Kylee Shook had career bests 18 points and 10 rebounds and the Cardinals (11-2) held the Purple Aces (4-6) to a season-low 24 percent shooting, in Louisville, Kentucky.

TENNESSEE 59, (10) STANFORD 51: Diamond DeShields scored 15 points and the Lady Vols (6-4) beat Stanford (8-2) to snap the Cardinal’s six-game winning streak, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

(11) WASHINGTON 87, SAVANNAH STATE 36: Kelsey Plumb scored 23 points with eight rebounds and eight assists and broke the school 3-point record, leading the Huskies (11-1) to a win over the Lady Tigers (2-8) for their eighth-straight win, in Seattle.
