I was in shock when I read in last Monday’s Portland Press Herald (Page A1) that President-elect Donald Trump called the CIA’s assessment of possible Russian hacking “ridiculous.”

As I read more of the article, I became more and more concerned that he isn’t going to be able to respond to any serious threats to our national security if he doesn’t take our own intelligence agencies seriously.

This is the man who’s going to protect us from the so-called Islamic State and other threats? This is the man who’s going to be tough on those who threatened our security at home and abroad? This is the man who’ll make America “great again”?

When he said, “I’m a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years,” I knew that his ego has overwhelmed his common sense. “Eight years”!? He hasn’t taken office officially and he’s already assumed he’s been elected for eight years!

If I were a Trump supporter, I would get on Twitter right now and and remind President-elect Trump of his vow to keep America strong, safe and free.
