GIRLS
Alisha Aube, Thornton Academy basketball: The senior forward scored 22 points in a 53-29 win over Maine Girls’ Academy, including the 1,000th point of her career on a 3-pointer in the first quarter. She also scored 28 points in a 57-45 win over Massabesic.
Honorable mention
Katherine Clemmer, Yarmouth/Freeport hockey: A senior, Clemmer had four goals and an assist as the Clippers scored five consecutive goals to rally past Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland, 7-6. Clemmer also scored in Yarmouth’s 10-2 loss to Falmouth.
Abby Hamilton, Yarmouth indoor track: A senior, Hamilton won the 2-mile race in the first Western Maine Conference event of the season by 20 seconds in 11 minutes, 11 seconds – 19 seconds faster than last winter’s Class B state champion.
Mackenzie Holmes, Gorham basketball: The sophomore center had 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead unbeaten Gorham to a 67-64 win over previously unbeaten Greely. She scored 20 in the first half.
BOYS
Luke Laverdiere, Yarmouth indoor track: A junior, Laverdiere won the mile and 2-mile at the opening Western Maine Conference meet. He won the mile by 6 seconds in 4:30 and the 2-mile by 33 seconds in 9:34 – a time 16 seconds faster than last winter’s Class B state championship performance.
Honorable mention
Austin Boudreau, Thornton Academy basketball: The junior point guard hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to lead the 4-0 Golden Trojans past Sanford, 69-50. Boudreau also scored 14 points in Thornton Academy’s 60-51 win over Biddeford.
Reece Armitage, Falmouth hockey: A senior, Armitage notched a hat trick to help lead the undefeated Yachtsmen past Yarmouth, 9-1. He scored the first of his three goals three minutes into the game for a 1-0 lead.
Shane DeWolfe, Greely basketball: The junior guard scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter to help the undefeated Rangers pull away from Yarmouth to collect an 80-58 win. DeWolfe added six points in Greely’s 64-53 victory against Gorham.
