FAIRFIELD — A two-vehicle crash sent five people, including Good Will-Hinckley students, to local hospitals on Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Route 201, which is also known as Skowhegan Road, when a pickup truck collided with a van carrying a driver and five students from Good Will-Hinckley, police said.

Fairfield Police Sgt. Matthew Wilcox said the van was headed north in the direction of the campus the collision occurred. Five people were taken to hospitals for treatment of what was described by Fairfield Fire Capt. Matthew Murphy as “minor to moderate” injuries.

Wilcox said a few passengers had scrapes to the head, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening. Wilcox said those injured reported feeling “internal pain,” so they were taken to local hospitals. Ambulances from Delta and Redington Fairview responded.

The crash backed up traffic for about half an hour in both directions.
