South Portland’s veteran code enforcement officer has announced that she will retire next year.

Interim City Manager Donald Gerrish sent an email to city councilors on Tuesday letting them know that Patricia Doucette will retire effective Feb. 3.

Gerrish said Doucette has served as the city’s code enforcement officer for 35 years. He said the city will immediately start looking for someone to replace her.

Doucette is listed as the city’s code enforcement director and deputy director of planning and development on the city’s website.
