BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Peter J. Cote, 69, formerly of Biddeford, passed away Dec. 27, 2016, at the Oak Hill Hospital.

He was born in Biddeford, April 10, 1947, the son of Jean Paul and Barbara Mildred Anderson Cote. 
Peter graduated from local schools. After his military service he pursued many careers before finding his true calling as a farrier, which he retired from in 1999. He was involved as a member of the Abnaki Draft Horse Association. He was also a member of the Weeki Wachee Anglers.

Peter was an officer of the VFW Post 10209 in Springhill, Florida, where he was a member of the Honor Guard.

Mr. Cote enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, travel and flying airplanes.

He is preceded in death by: brother Harold Lavoie; and two sisters, Lorraine Cote and Dorothy Francoeur.

Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Cote; mother-in-law Catherine Taylor; sons, Paul Cote and his wife, Christine, and Peter Joseph Cote II; daughters, Patricia Hallczuk and Crystal Desimone and her husband, Carmine; brothers, Joseph P. Cote, Richard Lavoie, Nelson Lavoie, Russell Lavoie and Philip Dussault; sisters, Carol Ann Ruck, Bernadette Tanguay, Theresa Bennett, Nancy Leach, Velma Lavoie and Helen Leach; seven grandchildren, Catherine, Allie, Rebecca, Courtney, Bailey, Franquie and Peter J. Cote III; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte.

Peter truly lived life with too many adventures to list. He was a true people person and it’s been said that he “never met a stranger.” 
Friends and relatives may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 365 Main St., Saco. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
