Portland police are investigating a stabbing on Munjoy Hill early Sunday morning that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested a 22-year-old woman on a charge of domestic violence aggravated assault after she stabbed a 23-year-old man during a domestic dispute at Munjoy South, a low-income housing complex, according to Lt. Robert Doherty.
Police withheld the names of the people involved, citing the ongoing investigation.
“There’s further investigation that needs to be done,” Doherty said.
The woman is being held at Cumberland County Jail and the man is being treated for serious but not life threatening injuries at Maine Medical Center, he said.
The incident occurred at 2:52 a.m., according to Patrol Sgt. Nick Goodman, who said the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Police provided no new information on the incident Sunday night.
Additional details, including the identity of the suspect, will likely be released on Monday, Doherty said.
