BIDDEFORD — A Biddeford woman charged with selling heroin remains at York County Jail today on $10,000 cash bail.

Denyielle Banks, 43, of Biddeford was arrested at her apartment at 57 Sullivan St. on Tuesday on charges of selling the drug, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Scott Pelletier said in a release issued by Maine State Police on Thursday.

The MDEA’s York District Task Force, along with Biddeford Police and the Southern Maine Violent Offender Task Force arrested Banks as part of an ongoing statewide effort focused on the distribution of heroin, Pelletier said.

For the past three months, MDEA agents have been investigating the sale of heroin in and around Biddeford, and made several undercover heroin purchases from Banks. One of those purchases was made within 1,000 feet of a designated drug-free space, Pelletier.

On Tuesday, Law enforcement officials and a canine unit seized 74 grams of heroin from Banks’ apartment, with a street value of $10,500, Pelletier said. Banks was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a felony crime.

Banks was transported to York County Jail on Tuesday and was initially held on $25,000 bail.

Banks appeared before a judge by video in Springvale District Court on Wednesday, an officer at the county jail in Alfred said Thursday evening. Her bail was lowered to $10,000 cash or $2,000 cash with a Maine Pretrial Bond.

As of Thursday, she had not posted bail and remained at the jail.

Pelletier said investigation into Banks’ allegations are ongoing and additional arrests are expected in connection to the crime.
