YORK — Nina Howe keyed York’s defense in the second half as the Wildcats pulled away for a 62-43 win over Wells in a Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The game was tied 30-30 at halftime, but York (5-3) limited Wells (5-2) to 13 points in the second half.

Maddie Cogger finished with 25 points and Howe scored 11 for York, which has won five in a row.

Anya Chase led Wells with 12 points.

DEERING 60, MASSABESIC 41: Tasia Titherington scored 10 of her 17 points in the first half as the Rams (6-2) built a 28-11 lead on the way to a win over the Mustangs (0-7) at Waterboro.

Abi Ramirez finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Deering, while Delaney Harris added 14 points.

McKenzy Ouellette led Massabesic with 20 points. Madison Drain tossed in 10 points.

BANGOR 69, PORTLAND 44: Katie Butler dominated inside, finishing with 24 points and 17 rebounds as the Rams (3-4) ran away from Portland (0-9) in Bangor.

Rowan Andrews added 10 points for Bangor. Taylor Sargent led Portland with 11 points.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 46, WAYNFLETE 30: Emily Greenlee scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half and Brianna Plante got 11 of her 14 points in the second half as the Seagulls (3-3) defeated the Flyers (3-4) in Old Orchard Beach.

Greenlee also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Seagulls, who jumped out to a 28-13 halftime lead.

Annika Brooks scored 10 points for Waynflete.

GOULD ACADEMY 42, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 21: Kayley Cadet scored 15 points and the Huskies (2-0) jumped out to a 32-7 halftime lead against the Lions (0-5) in Bethel.

Natalie Smith and Grace Mears each scored six points for GPCS.

FOREST HILLS 41, PINE TREE ACADEMY 29: Caitlin Logston scored 18 points to pace the Tigers (3-4) to a win over the Breakers (3-2) in Jackman.

Demitria Giroux and Patricia Lessard each added seven points for Forest Hills, which outscored Pine Tree 26-9 in the second half.

Adriana DePalma led Pine Tree with 10 points.

YORK 56, WELLS 51: Trevor LaBonte poured in 28 points as the Wildcats (6-2) edged the Warriors (4-3) in York.

Reid Hogan added 10 points for York, which trailed 44-42 heading into the fourth quarter. Deandre Woods led Wells with 11 points.

PORTLAND 71, BANGOR 32: Griffin Foley scored 17 points and Charles Lyall added 16 to lead Portland (6-1) to a one-sided victory over the Rams (2-6) in Bangor.

Treyvonnte Ballew added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Pedro Fonseca scored 11 points for the Bulldogs.

WAYNFLETE 57, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 39: Jack Meahl hit five 3-pointers, including four in the first half, and finished with 18 points as the Flyers (6-1) beat the Seagulls (3-4) in Old Orchard Beach.

Asker Hussein added 17 points and Yai Deng scored 14 for Waynflete, which used an 18-1 second-quarter surge to open a 33-11 lead.

Ian Regan led OOB with 17 points. Kyle Allen and Thomas Fregeau each tossed in eight points.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 59, BUCKFIELD 35: Caleb La Croix scored 26 points to go along with seven steals and five rebounds as the Guardians (4-4) downed the Bucks (3-5) in South Berwick.

Jesse Towne added nine points and four steals for the Guardians, who outscored Buckfield 30-9 in the middle two quarters.

Ethan Jackson scored 11 points and Kyle Charest chipped in with 10 for Buckfield.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 2, GORHAM 0: Skylar Pettingill scored both goals for the Red Storm (4-3-1) as they shut out the Rams (3-4) in Lewiston.

Pettingill opened the scoring with an assist from Eric Quirk at 13:19 of the first period. His second goal came 7:16 into the third, assisted by Charles Bradish.

Brandon Wasser stopped 12 shots to record the shutout. Noah Bird had 20 saves for Gorham.

GREELY 4, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 3: Andrew Moore recorded a hat trick for the Rangers (3-2) in a win over the Eagles (3-4) in Falmouth.

Moore and Ben Kennedy scored second-period goals, both set up by Jack Saffian, as Greely took a 2-1 lead.

Tyler LaCascio tied it with his second goal of the game 28 seconds into the third, but Moore answered with two goals in a span of 3:13.

MASSABESIC/BONNY EAGLE/OLD ORCHARD 6, LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 5: Tanner McClure scored two goals and assisted on two others, and the Mustangs (2-3) held off a late comeback by the Bulldogs (0-5) at USM Arena.

Cameron Goodrich also notched a pair of goals for Massabesic, which led 6-2 before Lawrence rallied for three goals in the final nine minutes.

Cameron Roy and Brandon Caron chipped in with a goal apiece.

Gunnar Hann and Cole Bloom each had two goals for Lawrence.

BRUNSWICK 6, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 0: Jacob Doring scored a pair of goals to lead the Dragons (2-3-1) to a win over Maranacook/Winthrop (0-9) in Brunswick.

Michael Eno and Jack St. Pierre each added a goal and an assist.

FALMOUTH 7, BIDDEFORD/THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Reade Carmichael recorded a pair of goals and an assist for the Yachtsmen (9-2) against the Tigers (0-8-1) in Falmouth.

Evie Clement contributed a goal and three assists, Caroline Proctor, Devon Sarazin and Abby Lebel each had a goal and an assist, and Grace Fallon also scored.

Becca Guay stopped 50 shots for Biddeford.

GREELY 11, YARMOUTH/FREEPORT/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3: Emilie McGillicuddy, Bridget Roberts and Courtney Sullivan each scored a pair of goals as the Rangers (8-1) rolled past the Clippers (5-7) at Travis Roy Arena.

Katie Clemmer scored twice for Yarmouth.

YORK/TRAIP ACADEMY 1, CHEVERUS/KENNEBUNK/OLD ORCHARD 0: Emma Ford scored an unassisted goal 7:12 into the first period and Sophie Stephens made 23 saves as the Wildcats (6-4) shut out the Stags (4-6) in Rochester, New Hampshire.

Anna Smith had seven saves for Cheverus.
