I am writing in response to Dick Boislard’s letter of Jan. 3. I find it interesting he thinks a vote for Trump is akin to denouncing Christian principles and faith in Jesus. Look at the presidential choices we had: Hillary or Trump? Hillary, who stood for abortion (murder of innocents, a definite breach of 10 Commandments), a known liar, responsible for the deaths of soldiers at Benghazi, and responsible for top secret information leaked. How would putting a crooked liar be a vote for Christian principles?

Trump, by far, is the better choice. Conservatism always coincides with Christian principles. It’s anti-abortion, and all for defense of our liberty in every way, and upholds our traditional values that made America great. If there’s one thing about God you can take away from the Bible, over and over again, He is all about liberty and wants all of His children as free as can be – so much so that He went to the cross. And, while spiritual freedom is of more concern to Him, so too is political freedom (look at how many times He interceded for Israel throughout the ages and arguably for this nation as well as too many “miracles” took place that if hadn’t happened we’d still be under British rule).

While I agree that we are all called to be charitable and merciful to our fellow men, not once did the Lord ever say it was the responsibility of the government to be the source or even hint that it was. Sorry Dick, but a vote for Hillary is not in keeping with Christian values.
