Mike Vail became president of Hannaford Supermarket in 2015. He is responsible for all operations, including strategic direction, financial performance, product assortment, pricing, customer service and marketing. He also serves as a member of the Delhaize America Leadership Team.

Vail has more than 30 years of experience working in retail. Immediately prior to leading Hannaford, he served as chief merchant and supply chain officer for Delhaize America.

Before taking on the leadership of supply chain, Vail assumed positions of increasing responsibilities at Delhaize America’s Sweetbay Supermarket and Hannaford brands. His previous leadership positions include serving as president of Sweetbay.

Vail began his career with Hannaford as retail management trainee. Later, he became a store manager, district operations manager, category manager and director of Deli Merchandising.

He is very active in the community, with organizations such as the United Way of Greater Portland and the American Heart Association in Maine. He and serves on the Leadership Committee of Let’s Go! Vail earned his bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Waterville.
