SANFORD — Police here say they’ve identified the pair who were going door-to-door in Sanford, allegedly claiming they were from a local roofing company.

According to an alert issued by Sanford police Wednesday afternoon, the two, in a white vehicle with New Hampshire license plates, had allegedly told homeowners in several areas of the city they were with Gendreau Roofing Company and were providing roofing quotes.

They allegedly asked homeowners for entry to the homes. Police had asked for information from anyone who had contact with  the duo.

Later in the day, police issued an update:

“Our agency has located the group and they have been identified as Clear Choice Home Improvement,” police said. “We have reached the company and verified this information and they will be looking into the claims reported to us.”

Police said they had  talked with Gendreau Roofing, and the company has confirmed that they do not conduct door-to-door sales and that the men did work for them.
