PORTLAND — The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, defeated the Windy City Bulls Saturday night at the Portland Expo, 115-108.

Abdel Nader led Maine and all scorers with 25 points on 9/16 shooting. Jalen Jones added a double-double, 22 points and 11 rebounds for Maine on 9/17 from the floor. Leading Windy City was Alec Brown who finished with 21 points on 9/12 shooting. Alfonzo McKinnie added 17 points of his own on 6/11 shooting.

In the 1st Quarter Marcus Georges-Hunt scored his first two buckets to help Maine jump out to a 6-4 lead with 9:35 left in the quarter. Georges-Hunt stayed hot early after hitting a three-pointer pushing Maine to a 19-10 lead at the 7:15 mark. At the 3:22 mark Windy City tied the game at 24-24 after a three pointer from Thomas Walkup. Windy City closed the quarter on a 9-7 run to take a 33-31 lead after the 1st quarter. Marcus Georges-Hunt led Maine with 10 points while Alec Brown led the Bulls with 9 points.

In the 2nd quarter Maine jumped out ahead after three free throws from Abdel Nader, and a two-point layup from Jalen Jones to lead 38-34 with 10:15 left in the half. Maine continued to shoot well and so did Windy city at the 7:15 mark with the score 48-46 in favor of the Red Claws. Maine opened up its largest lead 61-50 of the night at the 4:40 mark after a three pointer from Coron Williams. Maine closed the half out leading Windy City 71-62. Jalen Jones led Maine in the first half with 17 points, while Windy City had Alec Brown and Alfonzo McKinnie score 14 points each.

In the 3rd quarter Maine led 76-67 with 9:30 left to play after a three pointer from Marcus Georges-Hunt, followed by another three from Coron Williams pushing the score to 79-67. With 6:24 left in the quarter Windy City cut the lead down 79-76 after a three from Alec Brown. 3:00 to play in the quarter when Arthur Edwards hit a three pointer to put Maine up 87-82. Maine closed the quarter leading 93-90 heading to the 4th.

In the 4th quarter Windy City tied the game up quickly at 93-93 with a three pointer from Andre Dawkins. At the 9:00 mark the score was in favor of Maine 98-95 after a pair of free throws from Dallas Lauderdale. 6:00 to play and Maine led 107-101 before a timeout on the floor from Maine. With 1:31 to play in the game Windy City connected on a pair of free throws from Tim Quarterman cutting the lead down to 110-105 in Maine’s favor. Maine hung on to win 115-108 over Windy City improving to 16-9 on the season, while Windy City fell to 8-13.

Maine finished the game 42/82 (51.2%) from the floor and 17/29 (58.6%) from the line. Windy City shot 44/95 (46.3%) from the floor and 13/18 (72.2%) from the free throw line.
