LEWISTON (AP) — A Maine woman has been charged for a November crash that killed a 13-yearold Lewiston Middle School student.
Police say Jayden Cho- Sargent, an eighth-grader, was crossing Main Street in a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by Laurie Young of South Paris.
The Androscoggin County district attorney’s office reviewed the investigation and charged Young with a motor vehicle violation resulting in death. The charge is a civil violation that carries a maximum fine of $5,000, and a maximum license suspension of four years.
The 54-year-old Young said she didn’t see Cho-Sargent until the last second. Cho- Sargent died at the scene, about a block from his home.
