WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Angus King, IMaine, announced that he has been named Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Airland for the 115th Congress.

The Airland Subcommittee oversees equipment and related research for the Air Force and Army, as well as the tactical aviation programs of the Navy and Marine Corps. It also has jurisdiction over equipment for the National Guard and Reserve. As Ranking Member, King will lead the Subcommittee along with the Chairman, Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark.

“I am honored to assume this responsibility, which will give me a platform to advocate on behalf of the men and women of the Army, Air Force, and our National Guard,” King said. “Ensuring that these brave men and women – many of whom call Maine home — have the resources, equipment, and training necessary to make them the most capable fighting force in the world will be my top priority as Ranking Member. I look forward to working with Senator Cotton to support our service members in Maine and across America.”
