Sanford police and the Maine Warden Service are searching the area where a missing 40-year-old woman was last seen more than a week ago.

Kerry Rear, 40, of Patriots Place in Sanford has not been seen or heard from since Jan. 22, police said.

She was reported missing on Sunday. The search is focused on the area near the Route 109 rotary, near where she was last seen.

Rear was last seen at the Lil’ Mart in Sanford on Jan. 22, when she entered the convenience store and appeared to be disoriented, according to staff interviewed by police. Rear was not wearing any shoes and was soaking wet, the employees said.

Rear believed she was in a bank, and inquired about making a deposit, police said Tuesday. She left the store for a few minutes before returning to ask the same questions again.

She left the store on foot and headed toward Country Club Road wearing brown sweat pants and a black puffy jacket with a pink-lined hood. She stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Rear’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Eric Small at 324-9170, ext. 227. Anonymous tips can be left at 324-9170, option 4.
