Joel Botler, M.D. was appointed senior vice president and chief medical officer of Maine Medical Center.
Botler served at MMC for 35 years as a physician, clinical leader. Most recently, he served as vice president, adult medicine service line. He was also one of the founders of InterMed, a Portland-based medical group.

NEW HIRES
Maine Medical Partners, a department of Maine Medical Center, announced that the following physicians have recently joined the practice:
Adam Owen, M.D., Michael Binette, M.D. and Michael Totta, M.D. have joined MMP’s neurosurgery and spine department.
Owen will focus on physical medicine and rehabilitation.

 

Binette received training in the diagnosis and treatment of spine disorders.

Totta is certified by both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

 

Abby Fleisch M.D., MPH, joined the pediatric specialty care, endocrinology and diabetes department.
Fleisch’s clinical interest is general endocrinology and research interest is early life environmental exposures and childhood obesity and diabetes.

Rebecca Hutchinson, M.D., MPH and Fernando Moreno, M.D. joined MMP’s palliative medicine group.
Hutchinson completed her internship and residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and her fellowship in hospice and palliative care at Maine Med.
Moreno is board certified in family medicine and has a subspecialty in hospice and palliative medicine.

Gary Hochheiser, M.D. joined MMP as Maine Med’s director of thoracic surgery. Hochheiser was previously chief of the division of thoracic surgery at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts.

 

Timothy Fitzgerald, M.D. joined MMP’s surgical care department.
Fitzgerald is director of a newly formed surgical oncology program that includes general surgical, hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal, endocrine, thoracic and breast oncological surgeons and advanced practice providers.

Sarah Dodwell, M.D., Jason A. Helis, M.D. and Mark J. Gorman, M.D. joined its neurology department.
Dodwell completed both her residency and fellowship at Harvard Medical School at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Helis is a pediatric neurologist who completed his residency training at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Gorman is working as a neuro hospitalist at Maine Medical Center.

 

 

 

Jesse Sammon, D.O. has joined Maine Medical Partners’s Urology Department in South Portland.
Sammon completed a robotic urologic oncology fellowship at Vattikuti Urology Institute in Detroit, Michigan.

Caroline Foust-Wright, M.D., MBA, has joined MMP’s Women’s Health with a specialization in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She completed her residency at MMC. She then continued to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was a clinical research fellow.

Kartik Pandya, M.D. joined MMP’s pediatric surgery department. He completed his residency at MMC and received his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine.

 

Amanda Powell, M.D. joined MMP’s Lakes Region Primary Care. She completed her combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center. She was previously with MaineGeneral Hospital.

 

Annabelle Rae Chua Norwood, M.D. joined MMP and will serve as nursing home medical director for Norway Rehab in Norway and Market Square in South Paris.
