Five people, including two men from the Bronx, were arrested in Hancock County Tuesday following a drug investigation into the sale of heroin and crack cocaine, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said.

Christopher Cruz, 28 and Kevin Barner, 51, both of the Bronx, were each charged with felony conspiracy to traffic in scheduled drugs, according to the MDEA.

Both men allegedly traveled to Maine to sell heroin and crack cocaine.

They were arrested at a home on Taunton Drive in Sullivan, where police found evidence of drug trafficking along with $6,300 in suspected drug proceeds.

Also arrested in the bust were three local residents. Sherman Merchant, 32, of Gouldsboro, was arrested on three outstanding warrants. Jade Giger, 30, of Gouldsboro, was charged with felony violation of conditions of release. Matthew Leise, 39, of Sullivan, was arrested on an outstanding Hancock County sheriff’s warrant.

All were transported to Hancock County Jail, and are expected to make initial court appearances Wednesday.
