An Auburn man was charged with robbery Friday after a gunman held up a Lewiston restaurant, police said.

A man holding what appeared to be a handgun held up a worker at the South Seas Restaurant on East Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Friday, fleeing with money.

Lewiston police said they arrested and charged Joseph Pepin, 39, with robbery after interviews with witnesses and a search of the area. Pepin was being held in the Androscoggin County Jail.

Police said they recovered a BB gun and some of the cash stolen in the robbery.
