10 Trojans placed in the top four during the day, including Kaleb Burnett, who finished in first place and was given the Richard DeRosier Outstanding Wrestler of the Day Award by pinning all of his opponents.
Nick Turner also took home first place in his division, while Talan Berube added to his impressive resume with a second-place finish.
Chase Hanson would later take home third place, while R.J. Souliere, Ryan Cote, Sebastian Rowe, Travis Lutz and Caden True placed fourth in their respective classes.
As the Trojans enter the home stretch of their inaugural season as a program, they hope to finish strong and to continue to prove that Saco is a wrestling town. TA coach Allen Berube has been excited with his team’s progress this Winter.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our program, the parents support the kids’ hard work and (they) never quit,” said Berube. “I’m so glad we started this … such a good feeling.”
Trojan Youth Wrestling is Saco’s first-ever youth wrestling program. For more information, check out Trojan Youth Wrestling on Facebook.
