PORTLAND — New England Patriots wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell is scheduled to make an appearance at Hadlock Field on Tuesday, May 9th, when the Portland Sea Dogs host the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at 6:00 PM. Mitchell’s appearance at Hadlock Field is presented by Aura.

Mitchell will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and be available to sign free autographs on photos provided by the Sea Dogs for fans from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

Malcolm Mitchell was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. In New England’s Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons, Mitchell hauled in six catches for 70 yards.  The former standout from the University of Georgia appeared in 14 games during his rookie season, making six starts. Mitchell finished 2016 with 32 receptions for 401 yards and two touchdowns. He picked up his first-career touchdown on a 56-yard score in the fourth quarter at San Francisco on November 20.

In 2015, as a redshirt senior at Georgia, Mitchell started all 13 games and was named an offensive captain. Mitchell caught 58 receptions for 865 yards. Off the field, Mitchell earned the David Jacobs Award, given annually to the player who best portrays courage, spirit, character and determination; the Haier Achievement Award, the SEC Community Service Team, and the 2016 Community Spirit Award.When he graduated, he ranked third in school history with 174 receptions for 2,350 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have hosted several Patriots players at Hadlock Field over the past several years including Dion Lewis (2016), Malcolm Butler (2015), Shane Vereen (2014), Rob Ninkovich (2013), Patrick Chung (2012), Rob Gronkowski (2011), and Steve Grogan (2008).
