WATERVILLE (AP) — Colby College is hosting an event dedicated to tackling bugs, weeds and pests that are a threat to Maine ecosystems.

The Maine Invasive Species Network’s annual meeting is being held at the Waterville college on Wednesday.

The conference will bring professionals together to talk about threats, regulations, management and other issues relating to forest insects, agricultural pests, aquatic plants and other invasive species of plants and animals.

State horticulturist Gary Fish will be on hand to discuss the state’s recently completed list of 33 terrestrial invasive plants that will be prohibited from sale in the state starting next year.
