A New York man was arrested this week in Bath and charged with selling heroin and crack cocaine.

According to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Dashawn Gill, 31, from Brooklyn, New York was charged with the Class A crime of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W Drugs.

For the past month, agents assigned to MDEA’s Mid-Coast District Task Force, along with Bath and Brunswick police and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an investigation into the distribution of heroin and crack in Bath-Brunswick, including undercover agents buying the drugs from Gill.

On Monday, agents searched an apartment at 530 High St., in Bath, from where Gill was allegedly selling the drugs. Gill was at the apartment and arrested.

Agents located 21 doses of crack cocaine in his pocket as well as a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Approximately $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds were also seized.

Gill was transported to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where bail was set at $25,000 cash.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges will be reviewed by the Attorney General’s Office for several local residents who were assisting Gill’s drug trafficking by allowing the use of their apartments in exchange for money or drugs.
