MT. VIEW — The Thornton academy youth wrestling team had a busy weekend, competing in both the Maine state championship as well as a tournament in Mt. View.

Talan Berube took home third place at states, along with Chase Hanson who took home third in his division.

Travis Lutz, Caden True and Ryan Cote all took home fourth place at the state tournament.

Berube continued his impressive road trip with a first-place finish at Mt. View. Adam Cole later took home first in the first-second grade class, while Nick Turner placed first in the eighth grade group.

Travis Lutz would then finish second in the third-fourth grade division, followed by a third-place finish in the fifth-sixth grade class.

Cole would then move up a class in the third-fourth grade division and grinded out a fourth-place showing, while Jacob Pelton also placed fourth in the third-fourth grade class.

The 2017 wrestling season is nearing a close, with the final matches on the horizon, including the regional tournament.

The Thornton Academy Youth Wrestling program is Saco’s first-ever youth wrestling club. The Trojans are led by coaches Allen Berube, Andrew Tripp, Marty Adams, Ryan Toussaint, Josh Beyea, Roger Souliere as well as volunteer Patty Ann Daigle.
