BRUNSWICK

A Harpswell woman arrested by Brunswick police on a warrant Friday was charged with trafficking in prison contraband after she allegedly brought drugs into a jail.

According to Brunswick Police Cmdr. Tom Garrepy, 40-year-old Shawnda Coffin of Harpswell, was arrested Friday afternoon in Brunswick on a West Bath District Court warrant for unpaid fines. Coffin was unable to post bail and was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland.

Garrepy said the next day, Brunswick police were notified that while being searched at the jail, Coffin had been found with Suboxone.

She was charged by Brunswick Police Department with felony trafficking in prison contraband and is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court on April 18.
