(AP) — A spring storm brought heavy rain and in some places more snow to northern New England.

A storm threatened to drop up to a foot of snow Tuesday in northwestern Maine and northern New Hampshire but the National Weather Service downgraded the snow amounts to up to 6 inches on Tuesday.

Some inland locations in Maine and New Hampshire had topped 3 inches by Tuesday afternoon.

Along the coast, there was heavy rain.

Because of the conditions, the Mount Washington Avalanche Center posted an avalanche advisory for Tuesday for Huntington and Tuckerman Ravine.
