BIDDEFORD — Three Biddeford Democratic legislators will host a town hall-style meeting to discuss their biennial budget, known as the Opportunity Agenda, on Monday, April 24.
Sen. Susan Deschambault, joined by Reps. Marty Grohman and Ryan Fecteau, both of Biddeford, will meet at the public forum to discuss the Opportunity Agenda and contract their budget proposal with Gov. Paul LePage’s proposed state budget.
The legislators claim the Opportunity Agenda calls for the largest property tax cut in Maine history; invests in jobs and the economy; fully funds public schools; makes college degrees more affordable and attainable; supports families, seniors, children and veterans; and provides meaningful student debt relief.
They said it can accomplish those tasks without unnecessary cuts and without raising new taxes.
Members of Democratic Legislative Leadership will also be in attendance, including Sen. Troy Jackson of Allagash; the Senate Democratic Leader, Sen. Nate Libby of Lewiston; the Senate Democratic Assistant Leader; Sen. Cathy Breen of Falmouth; and the Democratic Lead on the Legislature’s budget-writing Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.
The meeting will be held April 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Biddeford High School’s Little Theater, 20 Maplewood Ave., Biddeford.
