CHANS Home Health & Hospice honored more than 50 volunteers at a celebration on April 5 at the Brunswick Hotel & Tavern. The event highlighted the work of the hospice volunteers and recognized several individuals.

“We are so grateful for the dedication and commitment of the CHANS hospice volunteers,” said Dr. Carl Demars, CHANS Home Health & Hospice medical director. “Their efforts enhance the healthcare services that we provide, offering personalized support and compassion as families navigate the end-of-life process. They truly are an essential part of the CHANS Hospice Care team, helping us to provide an all inclusive and seamless approach that offers peace of mind, comfort, and healing to patients and families.”

CHANS Home Health & Hospice provides care and comfort during the final six months of an individual’s life. Personalized care plans allow the individual to remain at home while receiving professional, medically based support and comfort care inline with the his or her needs and wishes.

Over the past year, Hospice Volunteers provided more than 3,500 hours of direct care and grief support to persons in the community, supporting hundreds of families.

At the celebration, many volunteers were recognized for their service and others were given awards for their support of the volunteer program.

Special recognition was given to Lola Charron for the Rookie of the Year Award and serving 100 hours in 2016. Eleven other volunteers received recognition pins for 100 hours of service. Members of the Hospice Choir received the Whimsy Award. Lastly, Beth Newman received the Alyce Redman Volunteer of the Year Award.
