We have two U.S. senators with two very different reactions to concerns over the firing of FBI Director James Comey. Angus King suggests action and getting to the bottom of this potential constitutional crisis. Susan Collins says that not only is there nothing to see here, but that any such suggestion is “misplaced.”

I have never voted for either of them and my expectations are not that high, but Collins is, once again, missing an opportunity to provide leadership to her party and demonstrate that she is, in fact, a patriot. I believe she has been in D.C. too long and is wrong for Maine.

I am interested to see how the leadership and love of country that King is displaying work out. If this is another Saturday Night Massacre, we the people need to get to the bottom of it. Collins would do well to pay attention to her constituency and put principle first.
