The Cyndi Lauper musical “Kinky Boots” and the jukebox musical “Jersey Boys” are among the touring Broadway shows that Portland Ovations will bring to Merrill Auditorium in the 2017-18 performance season.

Executive and artistic director Aimee Petrin announced the season Wednesday night at the Masonic Temple in Portland.

Portland Ovations will welcome back cellist Yo-Yo Ma after a 15-year absence, as well as Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster, who will present “A Celtic Family Christmas” with her husband, Donnell Leahy. Also on the schedule is banjo master Bela Fleck and collaborator Abigail Washburn. They’ll perform songs from their self-titled debut CD, which won a Grammy in 2016 for Best Folk Album.

Other Broadway shows include “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” and “Dirty Dancing.”

The season begins Sept. 28-29 with a performance by dance pioneers Bandaloop, who will turn downtown Portland into a stage for two days of free performance on the facades of city buildings. It ends in May 2018, when composer and violinst Daniel Bernard Roumain returns to Portland for a First Friday flash mob processional.

Portland Ovations will present its shows in venues across town, including Merrill, Hannaford Hall on the Portland campus of the University of Southern Maine, State Theatre, Port City Music Hall and the studio theater at Portland Stage Company.
