BIDDEFORD — Scarborough scored 13 runs in the first two innings and completed its fourth straight undefeated regular season with a 21-0 win over Biddeford in a five-inning SMAA softball game Monday.

Chloe Griffin was the winning pitcher and had four RBI, including a three-run double in a seven-run first inning. She struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk in three innings.

Lilly Volk and Hunter Greenleaf each had three hits, and Courtney Brochu drove in four runs for the Red Storm (16-0), who extended their regular-season winning streak to 73.

Scarborough has nine shutouts and 10 mercy-rule wins this season.

Amber Magnant and Kaitlyn Stewart each had a hit for Biddeford (6-9).

CAPE ELIZABETH 23, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Jessica Robicheaw threw a no-hitter and drove in four runs to lead the Capers (8-6) over the Seagulls (3-10) in five innings in Old Orchard Beach.

Maddie Culkin drove in six runs, including an inside-the-park grand slam in the first inning.

Robicheaw hit a two-run double and finished with four hits. She allowed one walk and struck out eight.

FREEPORT 3, LAKE REGION 2: Abbye Koenig, Brianna Welch and Alexa Koenig scored as the Falcons (4-12) used four first-inning singles to open a 3-0 lead over Lake Region (1-14) in Freeport.

Brianna Bellefleur held the Lakers to three singles and no runs over the first six innings before Delaney Meserve lined an RBI double to help Lake Region score twice in the seventh.

Abbye Koenig and Megan Cormier had two hits apiece for Freeport. Desiree Berry had two singles for the Lakers.

BASEBALL

CHEVERUS 8, BIDDEFORD 1: Jared Brooks tossed a one-hitter and struck out 14 to lead the Stags (14-1) over the Tigers (7-8) in Biddeford.

Cheverus scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead, highlighted by RBI singles from Dominic Casale and Rylan Benedict.

Brooks hit a solo home run in the sixth to put Cheverus ahead 7-1.

Biddeford’s hit came in the third inning – an RBI double by Carter Edgerton.

THORNTON ACADEMY 11, MARSHWOOD 0: Brady Lambert threw a two-hitter and Evan Balzano hit a second-inning grand slam to lead the Golden Trojans (9-5) over the Hawks (3-12) in five innings in Saco.

Thornton Academy added seven runs in the third inning.

Lambert (4-0) walked two batters and struck out three.

Holden Jackman hit a double for Marshwood.

SACOPEE VALLEY 7, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Dana Shea and Jared Jordan combined on a six-hitter and struck out 11 as the Hawks (8-7) beat the Panthers (6-7) in Yarmouth.

Cameron Cyr hit two doubles, Peter Cates tripled home two runs and Shea added an RBI triple.

Haven Cutko had a single and a double for NYA.
