Falmouth High School senior left-handed pitcher Cam Guarino was named the Gatorade Maine baseball player of the year on Tuesday.
He is the first player from Falmouth to receive the honor.
In helping Falmouth to a 14-0 record and the No. 1 spot in Class A South, Guarino has a 6-0 record with a 0.18 ERA, striking out 50 with four walks in 38-1/3 innings. Guarino, who will play next at the University of New Haven, has a 28-2 career record.
