KENNEBUNK — Habitat for Humanity York County received a check from Barbara Conda, Bangor Savings Bank branch manager in York, for Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s Community Matters More program for $5,000.

“Habitat for Humanity of York County is grateful for the show of support from community members who voted earlier this year for Habitat during the Community Matters More program,” said Doug Fraser, president of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of York County. “We would like to thank the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation for the support of the valuable work of nonprofits throughout the state.”

The $5,000 donation will support Habitat’s affordable housing mission. Habitat is currently working to complete its 27th home in West Kennebunk and will begin building a 28th home later this summer in Wells.

Habitat volunteers have completed 32 home weatherization projects in York County.

“This grant award from our Foundation to Habitat for Humanity York County signifies our commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve. We are proud to partner with organizations like the Habitat for Humanity York County to help families reach their goal of owning a home,” said Conda.

Habitat has many opportunities to volunteer, such as on a building project, at the ReStore, assisting with weatherizations, in the office or serving on a committee.

Anyone interested in participating or donating to Habitat is encouraged to call 985-4850 or visit the website at habitatyorkcounty.org.

Habitat for Humanity York County is the local affiliate of Habitat International and was incorporated in 1985 as a nonprofit builder of affordable homes in partnership with low-income families, community volunteers, and local businesses.

Its mission is to work towards the elimination of poverty housing in York County and to stir the hearts and minds of others to take action on this issue.
