While driving to work on Interstate 295 last week, I was passed by a middle-aged woman who had her phone propped up on the steering wheel, texting as she drove.

I am writing in hopes that she, and others like her, will see this appeal. My 16-year-old son obtained his driver’s license last week. He will be driving on the same roads as you.

Although your business may seem so important that you cannot wait to text, I promise you that my son’s life is more important. There are no exceptions. No one drives safely while texting. Please, put down the phone, obey the law and be safe.
