ALTOONA, PA — The Portland Sea Dogs (29-31) scored six runs in the second inning and never looked back, defeating the Altoona Curve (34-29), 7-4, Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.  Portland’s pitched retired 15 straight to end the game.

RHP Elih Villanueva (1-1) earned his first win in the Red Sox system, working six innings on eight hits and four runs. Altoona’s RHP Yeudy Garcia (2-5) took the loss, allowing five runs over 1.1 innings, and left the game with an injury.

Altoona scored twice in the first inning, but the ‘Dogs went to work, scoring six times on six hits in the second. Denier Lopez (2-for-4) knocked in Portland’s first run with a single. Tzu-Wei-Lin cleared the bases with a three-run double down the right-field line. Nick Longhi added a run-scoring fielder’s choice and Henry Urrutia added an RBI single. Urrutia went 2-for-5 in his debut in the Red Sox system.

LHP Williams Jerez pitched two perfect frames for his second hold of the year. LHP Bobby Poyner retired all three batters in the ninth for his second Double-A save. 

3B Rafael Devers blasted a solo-homer in the fourth inning to give Portland a 7-2 lead. The homer was the 11th for Devers, matching his total from last season.

Altoona added two runs in the fifth inning on RBIs from Joe and Espinal.
