YORK COUNTY — As the school year ends, there are plenty of programs being offered throughout the summer where children can continue to learn and have fun. Several local churches and parishes are opening their doors to the community, hosting summer programs for children.

Below are several of the programs and events being held:

SACO

First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beach St., 283-3771

There will be a vacation bible school at First Parish Congregational Church July 10 to 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The theme is “Hero Central — Discover Your Strength in God.” Ages 4 to fifth grade are welcome. VBS is free and open to the community. Registration forms can be found at firstparishsaco.org.

United Baptist Church, 318 Main St., 283-3411

There will be a vacation bible school at United Baptist Church for children ages 4 to fifth grade during the weekend of July 21. Camp will meet Friday, July 21 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m. following worship. For more information and registration, contact the church office.

Good Shepherd Parish, 271 Main St., 282-3321

There will be a vacation Bible school at Most Holy Trinity Church June 26 to 30 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The theme is “Rome, Paul, and the Underground Church.” Children ages pre-K accompanied by a parent or guardian through sixth grade are welcome. The mission will benefit Barbara Bush Children’s hospital. Payments are due by June 25 and can be found with registration at goodshepherdparish.us.

Bible Baptist Church, 146 Ferry Road, 284-7338

There will be a vacation Bible school at Bible Baptist Church July 10 to 14 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Kids ages 5 to 12 are welcome. The theme is “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose,” where kids will participate in Bible-learning activities and other adventures. WATERBORO

Lakeside Community Church, 1248 Sokokis Trail, 793-9300

There will be a vacation Bible study at Lakeside Community Church June 26 to 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children ages 4 to 12 are welcome. GOODWINS MILLS

Goodwins Mills Advent Christian Church, 503 Goodwins Mills Road, 499-2817

There will be three overnight camps at Mechanic Falls AC Camp Meeting Association. From July 7 to 8, there will be a miniature camp with a registration fee of $50 dollars for children ages 7 to 8. On July 16 to 21, there will be a junior camp with a registration fee of $200 dollars for those ages 9 to 12. On July 23 to 30, there will be a teen camp with a registration fee of $230 dollars. KENNEBUNK/KENNEBUNKPORT

The Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Road, 967-5787

There will be a vacation Bible camp at The Church on the Cape from Aug. 14 to 18 from 8:30 a.m. to noon with the theme of Heroes. The camp is open to children ages 4 to 12 in the community. Sea Road Christian Church, 140 Sea Road, 985-3319

There will be a vacation Bible study, “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose,” Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. to Aug. 11 at 11:30 a.m. This event is free of charge. For more information and registration, visit searoadchurch.org.

SANFORD

Curtis Lake Church, 38 Westview Drive, 324-0652

Camp Curtis Lake will be held throughout the summer, welcoming children grades Kindergarten through six. The first session will be held June 26 to 30, and the last session is Aug. 28 to 31. The sessions will run from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include swimming, crafts, games, sports, field trips, outdoor living skills and a weekly field trip. There is a registration fee of $25 dollars. For additional program costs, information and registration, visit curtislake.org.

St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, 66 North Ave., 324-2420

There will be a vacation Bible camp, “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose,” Aug. 7 to 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Children Pre-K through fifth grade are welcome, grade six and up are welcome to be camp helpers. There is a $20 registration fee. Refer to the parish website for more information and registration, at stthereseparishmaine.org. Additionally, for grades six through 12, every Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. there will be  a game night, “Spirit House.” Admission is free and those attending are encouraged to bring a snack to share. Both programs are held at Notre Dame Faith Formation Center in Springvale.
