UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: A Silver Alert has been issued for Audrey M. Brown, who has been missing from the Biddeford area since 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

A Silver Alert is a recovery program for missing adults who are developmentally impaired or suffer from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. It is akin to a child Amber Alert.

Fisk said the alert has been sent for Maine and, “hopefully (New Hampshire and Massachusetts) to follow.”

“We can only assume that she took the turnpike, however without a trans pass, cash paying customers do not get photo’d,” Fisk said in an email Thursday afternoon.

Fisk said she will provide an additional update around 4 p.m. to confirm if the 79-year-old is still missing or not.

BIDDEFORD — Biddeford Police are currently looking for a 79-year-old woman with dementia they say has been missing since Wednesday.

Police said this (Thursday) morning Audrey M. Brown, of Biddeford, left home Wednesday afternoon to visit a relative in Alfred.

It was discovered around 6 a.m. this morning Brown had not made it to her destination, in the Keywood Manor area of Alfred.

She left Biddeford around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, operating her 2008 Black Nissan Sentra with registration 9161SK, Dep. Police Chief JoAnne Fisk said this morning.

Brown was last seen around 10 a.m. this morning spotted driving along Rt. 125 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, toward the New Hampshire border, Fisk said.

Fisk said a motorist notified area police of an erratic driver on the route, whose license plate mateched that of Brown’s.

Officers arrived on the scene, Fisk said, but were unable to locate Brown. Biddeford Police have notified media markets in Maine, New Hampshire and the Boston areas.

Brown is 5 feet, 1 inch tall with gray hair and blue eyes. She weighs 140 pounds and wears silver wire-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information about Brown’s whereabouts is asked call the Biddeford Police Department at 282-5127.
