THE DJANGO FESTIVAL ALL-STARS will perform at The Chocolate Church on July 2.

The Django Festival All-Stars kick off the summer season at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath. The All-Stars will bring their brand of Gypsy Jazz to the main stage at 7:30 p.m. on July 2.

The Django All-Stars honor the traditions of French Gypsy Jazz in the tradition and style of Django Reinhardt, but add their own creative interpretations, arrangements and original compositions.

The All-Stars are led by guitarist Dorado Schmitt, and currently feature Dorado’s son, Samson Schmitt, lead guitar; Ludovic Beier, accordio, and accordina; Pierre Blanchard, violin; Doudou Cuillerier, rhythm guitar and vocals; Antonio Licusati, bass.

The group has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Birdland, The SFJazz Center and The Kennedy Center.

Called the “best jazz show in town” by The Wall Street Journal, the Django Festival All-Stars reproduce the sounds pioneered by the eponymous guitarist. The All-Stars will be one of a number of acts to perform in the Summer Concert Series of the Chocolate Church Arts Center. The series runs through August and features an array of local and imported talent, with different shows playing on the Main Stage and in the Bath waterfront park.
