WELLS — Michael Wrigley’s two-run triple keyed a four-run third inning Wednesday as Wells overcame an early deficit and went on to an 8-2 victory against Massabesic in an American Legion baseball game.

Wrigley tripled home Covey Dufort and Liam Bell to tie the game for Wells (9-4) against Massabesic (4-4-1) before Tyler Bridge scored from second on Gary Andrews’ infield hit and Justin Wiggins singled home Matt Tufts.

FAYETTE STAPLES 8, BONANZA OF SANFORD 1: Tim Smith pitched a three-hitter, striking out five, and drove home the first run of the game as Fayette Staples (7-6) won at Saco.

Fayette Staples took a 1-0 lead in the first when Zach Ham singled, stole two bases and came home on Smith’s grounder to second. Fayette Staples pulled away with seven runs over its final three at-bats.

Toby Pydych led Fayette Staples with three hits, including a double, an RBI and a run.

YANKEE FORD 15, ZONE 3 UNITED 7: Riley Hasson hit a two-run homer in the first inning and finished with five RBI to lead Yankee Ford (11-3) over Zone 3 United (1-13) at Gray.

Hasson had an RBI single in the second and a two-run triple in a six-run seventh. Marshall Peterson added three hits and an RBI. Griffin Kelley earned the win, striking out three in 21/3 no-hit innings.

Jacob Winchester hit a three-run homer for Zone 3 United in the third.

JUNIOR LEGION

CHEBEAGUE ISLAND BOATYARD 12, BIDDEFORD 2: Chebeague Island Boatyard (11-1) scored nine runs in the third inning and went on to defeat Biddeford (8-6) in five innings at Biddeford.

Jack Romano and Jason Waaler each had three RBI for Chebeague Island Boatyard, including two-run doubles in the third. Waaler finished with three hits.

THIRSTY TURF SWEEPS TOPSHAM: Nick Thompson, with an inning of relief from Jack Mullen, pitched a no-hitter to give Thirsty Turf (12-1) a 7-1 victory over Topsham and a sweep of their doubleheader in Portland. Thirsty Turf won the opener 4-2.

Thirsty Turf broke a scoreless tie in the second game with a three-run third keyed by RBI singles from Luke Knowles and Hayden O’Donnell.

John Welch hit an RBI single to put Thirsty Turf up 1-0 in the opener. Nick Beluscha had an RBI single in a three-run fourth.

REGENCY MORTGAGE

GREELY 6, GORHAM 5: Visiting Greely (6-3-1) took a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning and held off Gorham (4-5-1).

Will Neliski hit a two-run double to put Greely ahead 5-2 in the third. Luke Miller added two hits and three stolen bases for Greely.

SOUTH PORTLAND SWEEPS OSSIPEE TRAIL MOTORS/SALMON FALLS C.C.: Caden Horton lined a two-out double and Noah Lewis added a two-run single to propel South Portland (10-2) to a 4-2 victory over Ossipee (3-11) in the first game at South Portland.

South Portland won the second game, 13-0.

Lewis’ single drove in Horton and Noah McHugh for a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the opener. Horton followed with a third-inning double to score Zach Johnson and McHugh.

Johnson had a pair of hits and two RBI to lead South Portland in the second game, and Jack Poole, Horton and Noah Lewis combined to hold Ossipee to four singles. Will Whyte accounted for three of those hits.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

PUERTO RICO 14, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3: Matthew Martinez’s two-run homer hightlighted a nine-run sixth inning as the Islanders (4-13) defeated the Surge (8-9) at Old Orchard Beach.

Andres Arroyo laced a two-run triple and Jacob Bissell a two-run single in the sixth.
