SANFORD — Colby Maiola homered with one out in the ninth inning to give the Sanford Mainers a 3-2 win over the Newport Gulls in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game Saturday night at Goodall Park.

Harrison Ray hit an RBI single in the third and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fifth as Sanford erased an early 2-0 deficit.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH SPLITS WITH SULLIVAN: Gevon Jackson singled home Mike Davis in the bottom of the eighth after tying the game with a home run in the seventh as the Surge (11-10) beat the Explorers (11-10) in the second game of a doubleheader at The Ballpark.

In the first game, Samuel Carter’s two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning as Sullivan took the lead for good in a 9-6 victory.

APPLE VALLEY 4, SANFORD 2: Jay Lanter and Darin Hewitt combined for nine strikeouts as Apple Valley won a pool-play game in the state tournament in Augusta.

Owen Roberts and Ethan Houge each had two hits for Sanford.

AUBURN 8, SANFORD 5: Austin Brown singled and doubled while leading Auburn past Sanford.

Giles Paradie, Ben Cassidy and Joel Stubbs each added a pair of singles.

TRI-COUNTY 5, PORTLAND 3: Fisher Cormier and Dawson Jones each hit a single and a double as Tri-County beat Portland in pool play at the state tournament in Augusta.

Portland got two hits apiece from Cole Walter and Danny Rocco.

AUBURN 11, AUGUSTA 7: Will Cassidy had three hits to lead Auburn over Augusta in a pool-play game at Auburn.

Clay Robbins had a pair of hits and drove in four runs for Auburn.

AMERICAN LEGION

YANKEE FORD SPLITS WITH COASTAL LANDSCAPE: Ben Conti threw a three-hitter as Yankee Ford (12-4) earned a split against Coastal Landscape (9-7) with a 1-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader, at Portland.

Riley Hasson had three hits for Yankee Ford, including an RBI single in the fifth.

James Sinclair’s two-run double in the first inning helped start Coastal Landscape on its way to a 6-1 win in the opener.

Logan McCarthy, Griffin Watson and Dylan Francoeur each contributed two hits in Game 1. Nate Ingalls led Yankee Ford with three hits.

NOBLE 18, STAPLES CROSSING 15: Noble scored four runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a win over Staples Crossing in South Berwick.

Jacob Lacroix drove in three runs with a double and a single, and Duncan McGilvery and Bryce Cantin each had two hits and two RBI for Noble.

Cooper Whitehouse went 3 for 4 with two RBI and scored three runs for Staples Crossing. Hunter Carignan drove in two runs.

WELLS 6, SACO BAY PT/YORK 2: Michael Wrigley drove in three runs with two doubles and two singles, and Justin Wiggins pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts as Wells (11-4) beat Saco Bay PT (8-6) in York.

JUNIOR LEGION

AUBURN 14, CHEBEAGUE ISLAND BOATYARD 9: Cooper Millett singled home the go-ahead run as Auburn overcame a 5-4 deficit with five runs in the top of the fourth against Chebeague Island Boatyard (11-3) in Yarmouth.

Brody Geramas led Auburn with three RBI, including a two-run double. Drew St. Hilaire also hit a two-run double.

James Waaler had three hits and three RBI for Chebeague.
